She misses me too.

Lauren misses me too. Tonight I had a phone call from her. She was at work and wouldn't finish before 10pm. The message: I cooked food for you, come and get it.

I went to the restaurant where she works nights and in between looking after the diners she sat and chatted. It took her about 15 minutes before she went to get the food, then she walked me to my car and chatted some more.

My heart swells with love and pride every time I see her, even think of her. I know so many people who don't want to spend time with their parents but my daughter likes me enough to engineer times together.

I know I've said it before, but I'm so lucky.

I'm assuming "I" is Lauren. Of course you can pick on me - that's what mums are for!

I think you and Lauren have a wonderful relationship.

I have had and continue to have some of my best times with my mum. We laugh at the same things, enjoy similar interests and always have something to talk about.

Sometimes she even knows what I'm thinking, or we'll say the exact same thing at the same time. We recite movie lines in everyday conversation, and discuss books we've both read.

She has excellent advice and I know that if I confide in her it will go no further.

I don't think all the riches in the world could pass that.

I'm so glad for you Danielle. You're right - that sort of relationship between a mother and daughter is very special and, I think, very rare. It's exactly the kind of thing I'm trying to give to Lauren.
